We Empower Students to Realize Their Potential !
The community of P.224Q continuously develops and refines their educational practices supporting their beliefs that students learn best when: · They are taught through well-planned targeted, and differentiated lessons designed to give all students access to the curriculum and accelerate their learning · When they are presented with learning activities related to a lesson that challenge their thinking and give multiple opportunities for application of material taught · When they are given immediate meaningful feedback and opportunities to self-assess · When they are taught in an environment where they feel safe to learn and take risks to develop their understanding

Letters from Principal Jamie
Dear P.224Q Community,
It is hard to believe that the school year is already coming to a close. This year has truly been a whirlwind! As we wrap up, I would like to a few moments to personally extend a thank you to our incredible school staff who works very hard on a daily basis to guide our children and help them learn and grow. We would be hard pressed to find a more caring and dedicated group of educators. I would also like to thank our PTA board and our parent volunteers for the hours of dedication to help enrich our school and build a sense of community for our students. To all our parents, I would like to say thank you for trusting us with your children, and for your investment and support to provide a quality education for our children.
Next year, at 224Q, we will focus heavily on:
Teaching students to use the Fitzgerald Key to expand writing
Improving foundational understanding of financial literacy skills
Utilizing the prompt hierarchy to ensure students become as independent as possible
Implementing new curricula specifically phonics-based instruction and math
Increasing student attendance and building trusting relationships with families
In closing, on behalf of the administration, we wish everyone a very happy, healthy and safe summer break. We will look forward to hearing about all the fun and exciting learning experiences your families have enjoyed over the summer!
For students who will be attending summer school we will have a fun and enriching program that will spark curiosity, joy, and a love of learning. Students will engage with peers. We will continue to combine academic support and students will have daily opportunities to play, create, explore, and develop new interests.
We will be available throughout the summer If you have any questions or concerns so, please reach out!

Thank you to all the P224Q Families and staff for making our Homecoming event such a huge success!
Thank you all for a successful 2020-2021 "Principals FundRaiser" !
Students are expected to attend school every day.
95% attendance is recommended by the P. 224Q Attendance Committee. Good attendance has a high correlation to student success.
Parents are expected to call the school when a student is absent to inform us of the reason. If we do not hear from you, the school will contact your home.
A written note must accompany the child upon his or her return to school, as required by education law. A doctor’s note can excuse a student from an unauthorized absence.
An attendance teacher will be notified if a student is absent for three or more days and we are unable to contact the parent. In addition, after three days you will need to contact the bus company to reinstate pick up.
If a student is going out of town for an extended period you are required to put in writing where the student is going, for how long they will be away and leave a phone number where contact can be made even if it is out of the country.
